How to Start CrossFit When You're Not "In Shape" Yet
"I want to try CrossFit, but let me get in shape first." We hear it constantly. Here's the truth: that's backwards. You don't get fit to start CrossFit. You start CrossFit to get fit.
Forget the TV competitions. Inside our gym, total beginners work out next to 55-year-olds who started after 40, next to former college athletes. Same class, each at their own level. Nobody expects you to show up fit — that's our job.
What day one actually looks like
You get greeted, not judged. A coach asks about your background and any injuries, and you're part of the group from the start. Warm-up together, then strength or skill work where your coach teaches every movement from the ground up and adjusts the weight to you. Can't do a pull-up? Neither could most of our members on day one — there's always a scaled version. Scaling isn't a lesser workout, it's your workout. Then the WOD (5–20 minutes), short and programmed fresh daily. You go at your pace. Then cooldown together. Sixty minutes, 8–12 people, a coach who actually coaches you.
What to bring: workout clothes, water, an open mind. We have everything else.
Your first class is free. Meet the coaches, meet the community, get a real workout — on us.
